CIJ is Continuous Inkjet. It refers to the technology that utilizes a continuously flowing stream of ink. This stream is broken into individual drops. The ink is electrostatically charged at variable rates depending on the dot placement required to form characters. This is a very precise technology and is used mainly for small character printing (SCP) applications, although characters can be generated anywhere from 1.5mm to 15mm in height.
DOD is Drop On Demand. This technology is much simpler in design than in CIJ machines. Generally, a series of nozzles are arranged to determine the specific height of the characters to be printed. A series of valves control which nozzles expel ink at a given time to create the matrix required to form each character, thus the term ’drop on demand’. Characters tend to range in size from 6mm to 115mm in height and are generally used in external packaging like shipper boxes or for very large items such as rolls of steel, bulk paper, precast concrete or lumber packaging.
Applications are endless. From raw manufacturing material to finished consumer goods. RESOLUTION has inkjets in every manufacturing sector from automotive, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, concrete and lumber to wire and cable companies.
No. For more than 15 years people in the industry thought inkjet would be replaced by other marking methods. The truth is, inkjet was, is, and always will be, the best way to put a date or batch code onto just about any surface. The technology lies not only in the equipment but also in the inks and solvents used. By making these machines more efficient and the inks more user friendly, inkjet will always have a place in the packaging and manufacturing industry.
No. These are printers for use with personal or office computers. Our inkjet printers are designed for industrial use in the manufacturing and packaging industries. For these other types of machines please contact your local retailer for parts, service and supplies.
